The simplest, most common way to apologize.
"I'm sorry, I forgot to bring your gift."
I'M REALLY SORRY ABOUT...
أنا آسف حقا بشأن
A stronger way to apologize about something specific.
"I'm really sorry about missing your celebration."
I APOLOGIZE FOR...
أعتذر عن
A more formal way to apologize.
"I apologize for arriving late to the ceremony."
I DIDN'T MEAN TO...
لم أقصد أن
Used to explain that something wasn’t intentional.
"I didn't mean to upset you at the party."
IT WAS MY FAULT.
كان ذلك خطئي
Used to take responsibility clearly.
"It was my fault, I should have told you earlier."
I SHOULD HAVE...
كان يجب أن
Used to admit what you should have done differently.
"I should have called to explain why I couldn't come."
THAT'S OKAY.
لا بأس
A simple, common way to accept an apology.
"That's okay, don't worry about it."
DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT.
لا تقلق بشأن ذلك
A relaxed way to show the apology is accepted.
"Don't worry about it, these things happen."
NO HARM DONE.
لا ضرر حدث
Used to show nothing serious happened.
"No harm done, it wasn't a big deal."
IT'S NOT A BIG DEAL.
الأمر ليس مهما
Used to reduce the importance of the mistake.
"It's not a big deal, I understand."
I UNDERSTAND.
أتفهم الأمر
Shows you accept their explanation.
"I understand, things happen sometimes."
APOLOGY ACCEPTED.
اعتذارك مقبول
A clear, simple way to say the apology is accepted.
"Apology accepted, let's just move forward."
A quick tip
A good apology usually has two parts: saying sorry, AND explaining or taking responsibility. “I’m sorry I was late, I should have left earlier” sounds more sincere than just “I’m sorry.”
