Learn the vocabulary and short-answer style needed to apply for a job, internship, or training programme.

What the exam asks

An application form is a document you fill in to apply for something — a job, an internship, a training programme, or a scholarship. Unlike an essay, most of it is answered in short, factual entries rather than full paragraphs — except for one part: your reason for applying.

Keep these entries short and specific: “Fluent in Arabic, French, and English” is better than a full sentence explaining your language history.

The reason for applying — the real writing part

Most forms end with a short paragraph asking why you’re applying and why you’re a good fit. This is where your writing skills matter most.

Useful phrases

I am applying for…I believe I am well-suited for this because…I am particularly interested in…This opportunity would allow me to…I am confident that my skills in … make me a strong candidate

Example

I am applying for this summer training programme because I am particularly interested in developing my communication skills. I am confident that my strong academic record and enthusiasm make me a suitable candidate.

Keep it focused

In 3–4 sentences: say what you’re applying for, why it interests you, and what makes you suitable. No need for a long story — clarity and relevance matter most.

Common mistakes to avoid

❌ Writing full sentences in short-answer fields: “My name is Amina and I was born on…” → ✅ Just: Full name: Amina El Fassi

❌ A vague reason for applying: “I want this because it’s good.” → ✅ Be specific: “…because it will help me develop my leadership skills.”

❌ Leaving fields blank instead of writing “N/A” or “None” when something doesn’t apply to you.
