You have learned a lot of food vocabulary! Now let’s use it to write something new: a recipe, telling other people how to cook a dish step by step.

What Is a Recipe?
A recipe has three parts: a title, a list of ingredients, and numbered steps that tell you what to do.
Recipe Parts
1. Title of the dish → 2. Ingredients (with amounts) → 3. Instructions (numbered steps)

Useful Words for Recipes
We use command words (imperative verbs) and sequencing words to write clear steps:

In a recipe, we use command words like “boil,” “add,” and “mix” — we don’t say “you boil” or “you should boil,” just “boil”!

Read this example recipe for Moroccan mint tea:
