Unit 1 of Outlook opens the Common Core year with Myself and Others — the very first English lessons most of these students will ever have. Below are all 7 free, ready-to-teach lesson plans covering the full unit.

How to Use These in Class
Don’t rush the grammar extension
Lesson 3’s smaller grammar points (titles, plurals) are easy to skip under time pressure, but they’re exactly the kind of detail that trips students up later if left unaddressed early.
Let the mini-project close the unit properly
Since this is students’ very first unit, ending with a project rather than a test keeps the tone encouraging — worth protecting that lesson’s time even if the schedule is tight.
Use the fact file as a model, not just a reading text
Before Lesson 6’s writing task, have students underline the structure of the fact file from Lesson 5 — it gives them a concrete model to follow for their own “About Me” profile.
