Unit 7 of Outlook covers Our Hobbies, and it’s where the simple past really begins in earnest — two full grammar lessons build it up carefully before students are asked to write with it. Below are all 7 free, ready-to-teach lesson plans covering the full unit.

Two lessons for one tense, on purpose
Splitting the simple past across Lessons 2 and 3 — “to be” first, then regular and irregular verbs — mirrors how the tense is actually easiest to learn: one reliable pattern before the messier, irregular one.
How to Use These in Class
Don’t skip straight to irregular verbs
Lesson 2’s “was/were” foundation matters more than it looks — students who are solid on it tend to pick up Lesson 3’s irregular verbs faster than those who rush past it.
Use the class survey to recycle the whole unit
Lesson 7’s survey is a natural place to reuse hobbies vocabulary, prepositions of place, and the simple past all together — worth pointing this out explicitly so students see it as review, not just a new activity.
Irregular verbs need repeated, spaced practice
A short irregular-verb recall warm-up in the next few lessons — even just 2 minutes — reinforces Lesson 3 far more effectively than covering the list once and moving on.
