Spotlight 2 sits at an interesting point in the Moroccan Middle School journey — students already have a year of English behind them, but they’re also returning from a long summer break with plenty forgotten. A good Spotlight 2 lesson plan has to review and rebuild at the same time as it moves forward.

Below are three free, complete lesson plans from our Spotlight 2 set — the exact structure and depth used across all 50 lessons in the full pack.

Our Teaching Approach for Spotlight 2

Every Spotlight 2 lesson plan is built to bridge the gap between where students left off in Spotlight 1 and where the new curriculum needs them to go — without assuming they remember everything, and without wasting time re-teaching what they already know.

Review built in, not bolted on

Rather than a separate “revision unit,” Spotlight 1 vocabulary and structures are woven directly into the Welcome Back lessons — greetings, past tense, and classroom language are reactivated naturally as new material is introduced.

As with every level in this system, every activity is designed for large, beginner-to-intermediate Moroccan classrooms with zero extra materials beyond the Student’s Book, a board, and chalk.

What Every Lesson Plan Includes

Each of the 50 lesson plans in the complete Spotlight 2 pack follows the same reliable 7-stage structure, timed to a real 55-minute class period:

Warm-Up → Pre-Assess → Engage → Study → Activate → Post-Assess → Closing

Warm-Up activates the class with zero materials. Pre-Assess quickly maps what students remember from last year before new material is introduced. Engage and Study work directly from the Student’s Book. Activate turns the language into real production — mingles, board relays, group games. Post-Assess gives a fast, visible comprehension check. Closing locks it in with a board summary students copy into their notebooks.

Timed for a real class, not a theoretical one

Every stage is timed to the minute across a realistic 55-minute Moroccan class period — nothing padded out, nothing rushed.

Why Teachers Are Switching to This System

Building a lesson that genuinely reviews last year’s material while still moving the curriculum forward takes real planning time — especially in the first weeks back. Having all 50 Spotlight 2 lessons already built this way removes that planning burden for the entire year, not just the opening unit.
