Unit 1 of Ticket to English opens the 1st Bac year with Education — a genuinely relevant topic for students actively living the school experience. Below are all 9 free, ready-to-teach lesson plans covering the full unit.

All nine are free to download, aligned with the 1st Bac Standards-Based Approach.

What’s Included

Lesson 1: Starting Up — Factors Affecting Education

A warm-up lesson introducing the unit’s theme through the real factors that shape a student’s education.

Lesson 2: Reading — Do Girls Do Better Than Boys at School?

A genuinely engaging reading passage exploring a real, debated question about educational achievement.

Lesson 3: Vocabulary — School & Education Lexis

The vocabulary bank students need to discuss education meaningfully in English.

Lesson 4: Listening — High School Experiences

Listening practice built around real accounts of the high school experience.

Lesson 5: Functions — Expressing Opinions, Agreeing, Disagreeing

Practical language for taking a position and responding to others’ views — directly useful for the reading topic above.

Lesson 6: Grammar — Simple Past

A full lesson on the simple past, foundational for narrating past events and experiences.

Lesson 7: Grammar — Reflexive Pronouns

Reflexive pronouns (myself, yourself, himself) taught as a focused second grammar point in this unit.

Lesson 8: Writing — Writing a Postcard

A short, structured writing task introducing an informal format students will build on later.

Lesson 9: Learning to Learn / Culture & Fun — Study Habits & UK/USA Education

A closing lesson connecting study skills with a cultural comparison of UK and US education systems.

Built for the 1st Bac syllabus

All nine lessons are aligned with the Unit 1 curriculum and the Moroccan Standards-Based Approach, so they slot directly into your existing pacing for this unit.

How to Use These in Class

Let the opinions function feed the reading discussion

Teaching Lesson 5’s agreeing/disagreeing language shortly before or after Lesson 2’s reading gives students the tools to genuinely debate the “do girls do better than boys” question, rather than just comprehending the text passively.

Pair the two grammar lessons deliberately

Simple past and reflexive pronouns are unrelated grammar points bundled into one unit — there’s no need to teach them back to back. Spacing them out, with a quick review of the first when introducing the second, helps both actually stick.

Use real study habits for the closing lesson

Lesson 9 lands better when students compare their own real study habits to the UK/USA systems discussed, rather than treating it as a purely factual comparison.
