Phrases for asking someone to promise something, and for making a promise yourself. This is your reference before the exam.

PROMISE ME YOU WILL... عدني أنك ستفعل
A direct, warm way to ask someone to promise.
"Promise me you will call when you arrive."
CAN YOU PROMISE ME THAT...? هل يمكنك أن تعدني بأن
A polite way to ask for a promise.
"Can you promise me that you'll be careful?"
WILL YOU MAKE SURE THAT...? هل ستتأكد من أن
Used to ask someone to guarantee something happens.
"Will you make sure that you send photos during the trip?"
I NEED YOU TO PROMISE ME... أحتاج منك أن تعدني
A stronger, more emotional way to ask for a promise.
"I need you to promise me you'll text me every day."
DO YOU SWEAR THAT...? هل تقسم بأن
A strong, informal way to ask for a serious promise.
"Do you swear that you'll be back before dark?"

I PROMISE THAT... أعدك بأن
The most common, direct way to make a promise.
"I promise that I'll call you every evening."
I GIVE YOU MY WORD. أعطيك كلمتي
A strong, serious way to promise something.
"I give you my word, I'll be careful during the trip."
YOU HAVE MY PROMISE. لديك وعدي
A confident way to confirm a promise.
"You have my promise, I won't forget to write."
I SWEAR THAT... أقسم بأن
A strong, informal promise, often used for emphasis.
"I swear that I'll send photos every day."
I'LL DEFINITELY... سأفعل ذلك بالتأكيد
A confident way to promise you will do something.
"I'll definitely text you when I land."
TRUST ME, I WILL... ثق بي، سأفعل
Used to reassure someone that a promise will be kept.
"Trust me, I will be careful the whole trip."

A quick tip


“Promise” is often followed by “that” + a future form like “will”. You can also promise using “I promise to…” + base verb.

“I promise that I will write to you.”
“I promise to write to you.”
