Me, Him, Her — Object Pronouns | Common Core Lesson

Learn object pronouns like "me," "him," "her," "us," and "them" in English! A simple, beginner grammar lesson for Common Core students, with Arabic help and a fun quiz.

You already know subject pronouns (I, you, he, she…). Today, we learn their partners: object pronouns, which we use in a different part of the sentence!

1

Subject vs. Object

Every subject pronoun has a matching object pronoun:

Subject
he
Object
him

All Forms
I → me, you → you, she → her, it → it, we → us, they → them

لكل ضمير فاعل ضمير مفعول به مطابق: I → me، you → you، he → him، she → her، it → it، we → us، they → them.
2

Where Do Object Pronouns Go?

Object pronouns go after the verb, as the person or thing receiving the action:

Example

She loves him.
Can you help me?

💡 Easy Tip

The subject does the action, and the object receives it. In “She loves him,” she is the subject and him is the object!

ضمائر المفعول به تأتي بعد الفعل، كشخص أو شيء يستقبل الفعل. مثال: “She loves him” (هي تحب هو → إياه).
3

After Prepositions Too

We also use object pronouns after prepositions like “for,” “with,” and “to”:

Example

This gift is for her.
Come with us.

نستخدم ضمائر المفعول به أيضا بعد حروف الجر مثل “for” و”with” و”to”. مثال: “This gift is for her” (هذه الهدية لها).
