Learn how to write a simple "About Me" profile in English! A beginner writing lesson…
Welcome to Unit 2! In this unit, we will talk about school and learning. Let’s start by learning how to say what you like, what you don’t like, and what you prefer.
Saying You Like Something
To say you like something, we use “like” after “I”:
I like English.
I like Math a lot.
I really like Sport.
Adding “a lot” or “really” makes your sentence stronger — it shows you like something very much!
لنقول أننا نحب شيئا، نستخدم “like” بعد “I”، مثل: “I like English” (أحب الإنجليزية). إضافة “a lot” أو “really” تجعل الجملة أقوى.
Saying You Don't Like Something
To say you don’t like something, we add “don’t” before “like”:
I don’t like Science.
I don’t like homework.
لنقول أننا لا نحب شيئا، نضيف “don’t” قبل “like”، مثل: “I don’t like Science” (لا أحب العلوم).
Asking About Likes
To ask someone what they like, we use this question:
A: What subjects do you like?
B: I like English and Art.
You can answer with one subject or more than one!
لنسأل شخصا عما يحبه، نقول: “What subjects do you like?” (ما هي المواد التي تحبها؟). يمكن الإجابة بمادة واحدة أو أكثر.
Saying What You Prefer
Sometimes we like two things, but we like one more than the other. We use “prefer” for this:
I prefer Math to Science.
I prefer reading to writing.
أحيانا نحب شيئين، لكن نحب أحدهما أكثر. نستخدم “prefer” لهذا، مثل: “I prefer Math to Science” (أفضل الرياضيات على العلوم).
