Today, we learn small words that tell us where something is. These are called prepositions of place!

In, On, Under
Here are three of the most common prepositions of place:
Example
The ball is in the box.
The book is on the table.
The cat is under the chair.
The ball is in the box.
The book is on the table.
The cat is under the chair.
“in” (داخل)، “on” (على)، “under” (تحت). مثال: “The ball is in the box” (الكرة داخل الصندوق).

Next To, Between
These prepositions tell us about the position between things:
Example
The stadium is next to the park.
The gym is between the school and the library.
The stadium is next to the park.
The gym is between the school and the library.
💡 Easy Tip
“Between” is always for two things. We say “between A and B,” never just “between A.”

“next to” (بجانب)، “between” (بين). “between” تُستخدم دائما لشيئين: “between A and B”.

In Front Of, Behind
These prepositions tell us if something is at the front or the back:
Example
He is standing in front of the goal.
The ball went behind the net.
He is standing in front of the goal.
The ball went behind the net.
“in front of” (أمام)، “behind” (خلف). مثال: “He is standing in front of the goal” (هو واقف أمام المرمى).

Opposite
“Opposite” means facing something, on the other side:
Example
The tennis court is opposite the pool.
The tennis court is opposite the pool.
“opposite” تعني مقابل، على الجانب الآخر. مثال: “The tennis court is opposite the pool” (ملعب التنس مقابل المسبح).
