Now that you know how to ask about prices and describe things, let’s learn the names of different shops and the words you hear inside them.
Types of Shops
Here are common types of shops:
I bought bread at the bakery.
My mother works at a clothes shop.
Departments Inside a Big Shop
Big shops are divided into sections called “departments.” Here are common ones:
“Menswear” means men’s clothes, and “womenswear” means women’s clothes — notice how “wear” is added to the end!
Shopping Actions
Here are useful phrases for things you do while shopping:
Can I try on this shirt?
Where is the checkout?
هذه عبارات مفيدة لأشياء نقوم بها أثناء التسوق: try on clothes (تجربة الملابس)، pay at the checkout (الدفع عند الصندوق)، look for a size (البحث عن مقاس)، choose a color (اختيار لون).
Putting It All Together
Now let’s use these new words in full sentences:
I bought bread at the bakery.
Where is the checkout?
Can I try on this shirt?
Notice how these sentences use words from all three sections above!
هذه الجمل تستخدم كلمات من الأقسام الثلاثة أعلاه معا، مثل: “Can I try on this shirt?” .
