Unit 8 of Ticket to English 2 introduces students to International Organizations — a unit built around real global institutions, acronyms students will actually recognize, and one of the more formal writing tasks in the syllabus. Below are six free, ready-to-teach lesson plans covering the full unit.

All six are free to download, aligned with the Moroccan Standards-Based Approach.

What’s Included

Vocabulary: Acronyms and Word Association

Students work with the acronyms of major international organizations and the word associations around them — a genuinely practical vocabulary set, since these acronyms appear constantly in real news and reading texts.

Vocabulary: Definitions

A second vocabulary lesson focused on defining key terms related to international organizations, reinforcing the unit’s core vocabulary from a different angle.

Grammar: Linking Words

A full lesson on linking words — essential for writing coherent, connected sentences, and directly useful for the formal letter task later in the unit.

Functions: Good and Bad News

Practice delivering both good and bad news appropriately — a communication skill that matters in both formal and informal registers, and one the exam tests directly.

Reading: International Organizations

A reading passage on international organizations that builds global awareness alongside the comprehension skills tested in the exam.

Writing: A Formal Letter

A complete lesson on formal letter writing — one of the more exam-relevant writing formats, with the structure and register students need for real formal communication.

Built around Ticket to English 2

All six lessons are aligned with the Unit 8 syllabus and the Moroccan Standards-Based Approach, so they slot directly into your existing pacing for this unit.

How to Use These in Class

Teach both vocabulary lessons before grammar

Since this unit has two vocabulary lessons (acronyms/word association, then definitions), covering both first gives students a genuinely solid vocabulary base before they need to use it in the linking-words and writing lessons.

Use linking words as a bridge into writing

The Grammar: Linking Words lesson pairs naturally with the Writing: Formal Letter lesson — students need exactly this language to structure a coherent formal letter, so teaching them close together reinforces both.

Save the formal letter for last

This writing task draws on vocabulary, linking words, and register all at once — treating it as the unit’s capstone activity, after the other five lessons, gives students the strongest foundation to succeed at it.

Good and bad news pairs well with the reading

After the reading lesson, ask students to summarize one piece of “good news” and one “bad news” story related to an international organization, using expressions from the Functions lesson — a natural way to combine both skills.
