Unit 1 of Ticket to English 2 opens the year with The Gifts of Youth — a topic students engage with naturally, paired with one of the syllabus’s trickier grammar points: infinitive vs. gerund. Below are seven free, ready-to-teach lesson plans covering the full unit.

How to Use These in Class
Teach both vocabulary lessons before the grammar
Since students will need unit vocabulary to make their own infinitive/gerund example sentences, covering both vocabulary lessons first gives them the words to draw on rather than defaulting to generic examples.
Don’t skip the listening lesson
Listening is one of the least-practiced skills across a school year simply because it takes more setup than reading or writing. Since this unit already has a ready-made listening lesson, it’s a low-effort way to make sure the skill gets genuine classroom time early in the year.
Use opinion functions to prepare for the descriptive paragraph
